The
last three years of Kenya Davis’s love life were rife with false starts
and heartaches in her pursuit to get back her ex-boyfriend, Dave. The
one bright spot she clung to was her job as a health scientist with CDC.
When she received a promotion that placed her in the field, Kenya saw
it as the distraction she desperately needed.

Simon
Washington lived a charmed life before his world came crashing down
around him. One fateful night full of confusion and heartache, he found
himself accused of domestic violence and the attempted murder of a
police officer. The once – affluent businessman was now on the run from
the law, leaving behind his wife, a thriving business, and his social
status.

Kenya’s
new position took her under the interstate bridge to the homeless, but
among the poor and hungry, she discovered Simon. Their worlds collided
in an unexpected mash-up of uncertainty and desire.

Kenya
wanted to comfort him, despite the warning bells going off in her head.
Was he the dangerous criminal the news described him as or the same guy
she knew from college? Should she trust the man who fell into her world
and crowded everything else out?

Simon
felt drawn to the courageous, kindhearted spirit who refused to protect
herself from his drama and accept that her trust in him put her in
danger. He had to push her away, but the sweetness of her presence was
hard to give up when he needed it so much.

Risking It All
follows Kenya and Simon as they walk through a minefield of emotions
and close calls to find and maintain their freedom and maybe even love –
with or without each other.

All he wants is to clear his conscience and get back the family he lost when Connor, his best friend and Elizabeth’s husband died tragically. Could it really be true that time heals all wounds?

Review:

This books has definitely had its sad parts that tugged at my heart but it kept me reading. I love things that have to do with doctors, I am really hooked on doctor shows so that definitely pulls me in as well. The set of characters fit perfectly in the story. After everything that Elizabeth is going through she is actually a very strong young woman. The book had its moments that has upset be me but, overall it was a great book. The ending had me screaming like a little girl. I loved the ending it was a great way to end it. I definitely want to read the next book to find out what happens next. I want to thank the author for putting out this amazing book because I absolutely loved it. It was to the point that I was staying up late because I could not put it down. I loved the characters, the story line, and the description of the setting sounded somewhere to take a vacation too. It was laid out very well and it definitely hooked me. I one hundred percent recommend this book to be read.

My first job with the Cerberus MC was to grab a girl from a seedy bar. Easy money, right?
The moment I realized the blonde I was hunting wasn’t around, I ended up captivated by a redhead dancing on the stage. With her striking features and sinful body, I knew she was trouble, but that didn’t stop me from making her mine that night.
When I learned that she WAS the job, everything became clouded.
I was only looking for a one night stand, but when the dust settled and she ran, my only desire was to chase her.
Should I risk my job, and quite possibly my life, in order to have her? Would she even stay if I caught her?

Christmas Countdown Blitz (Day 12)

Laura L. Walker grew up in a large family in the beautiful
Gila Valley of southern Arizona. From the time Laura was young, she spent hours
drawing characters on paper and fantasizing about their adventures. Life became
more serious, however, when Laura met her own hero and they eventually became
the parents of six children. In between spurts of grocery shopping, sewing
costumes or quilts, transporting kids to practices, and making dinner, Laura
still enjoys putting her imagination to good use. She is the author of four
contemporary romances.

1890 Nebraska

For schoolmarm Amanda Cordell, Christmas Eve means getting
through the special program she and her pupils have put together for the
townsfolk in Langdon. And even though she has vowed to not set eyes on handsome
Calvin Hunsaker, it becomes inevitable when his incorrigible son needs her
help. Everyone knows how bitter Calvin is over his wife’s sudden death, and
somehow Amanda senses that he sees her the same way, as the spineless, helpless
socialite she used to be.
Calvin Hunsaker is determined to ignore the feeling of
attraction stirring inside him for the new schoolmarm, even if she is the most
beautiful woman he’s ever seen. But she’s here to pick up the pieces after her
brother and sister-in-law’s untimely deaths and raise their two youngsters, not
bedazzle him with the same charms his first wife possessed. Better to bundle up
and head out of this one-room schoolhouse the second the program’s ends.
But a winter storm and two mischievous boys have other
plans, and Amanda and Calvin’s plans to avoid each other go awry when Calvin is
stranded at Amanda’s house over the Christmas holiday. Will there be joy and
thanksgiving in their future or will the winter blues descend on them once
again?”

Snippet:
                       The two boys
scampered up the ladder to the loft, leaving the girls to play quietly with
their dolls by the fire.

            Puzzled,
Rachel breathed out, “Well! I suppose we scared them off. At least we still
have the girls as chaperones.”
            She
expected Calvin to laugh or at least smile. Instead, he slowly approached her
and took her hands in his. “Do we need chaperones, Rachel?”
            Her
mouth went dry. She didn’t know what to say. Yet she couldn’t tear her eyes
away from his mesmerizing cobalt blue gaze.
            He
lifted a hand to cup her cheek and added almost as a whisper, “I don’t know
about you, but for me, the answer is yes.”
            A
thousand sensations vibrated through her in that moment: the thrill of his
words, the wonder of his touch, the softening light turning gray, the hum of
the girls’ play, and the crackle of the warm fire. Even the whooshing sound of
the snow that she thought they would all be used to hearing by now. She heard
and felt every detail as if it were being magnified by an unseen force.
            She
whispered back, “I think it might be yes for me, too.”
            And
with a shuddering breath, his lips landed on hers.

Snippet:
The line moved forward, and Lucy could feel the warmth radiating from the tent. Neither of them spoke again until they’d made it inside.

Cole looked around and frowned. “At least now I know where everyone buys their Christmas decorations. Snow Valley really goes all out, don’t they?”

“I know. Isn’t it great.”

He eyed her skeptically. “If you say so.”

“What’s not to like?” They made their way to one of the booths that had beautiful handmade quilts and wall hangings.

“I’m just not that into Christmas.”

Lucy stopped and stared at him. “How can you not be into Christmas? It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”

“Not for me. It’s my least favorite holiday.”

“Do you have your stethoscope with you?”

Puzzled, he shook his head. “No. Why do you need it?”

“I just wanted to verify you have a heart.”

Cole smiled. “That was actually kind of funny.”

“I’m serious. How can you not like Christmas?” It occurred to her that he may have grown up in poverty. Maybe that’s why he hated it. “Is it because you never got anything as a child?” she asked hesitantly.

He snorted a laugh. “Nope. My parents made sure everyone knew how much money we had by the elaborate gifts they gave me and to one another each year.”

“Christmas is about more than getting stuff.” She pointed out a beautiful wall hanging depicting the nativity. “What about the birth of the Savior?”

“I’m not a heathen, Lucy.” His eyes softened. “Believe it or not, I’m a believer who actually goes to church regularly and not just on Christmas Eve.”

“There may be hope, then.”

“Hope for what?”

She reached out and took his gloved hand in hers, and led him back outside the tent. “I’m going to save you from becoming the only world’s living heart donor.”

Four seasons. That’s how long Angela Donovan hoped to know Mark Shafer before they married. But less than a year later, she still fears that she’s repeating the mistake of a failed relationship.

As Christmas approaches, she senses Mark’s plans for a proposal, and wonders if she can learn to trust again. Mark has learned all there is to know about the Shafer miracle trees—or so he thinks.

Papa reveals secrets about the trees’ matchmaking power just as a highway expansion threatens to destroy the family legacy. Mark is determined to save the farm, and the promise of love stirring in the branches of the Shafer miracle trees. Heartwarming and engaging,

The Tree Keeper’s Promise captures the warmth and wonder of the holiday season.

Snippet:
“They say no two
trees are exactly alike. Growing them may be a science, but choosing the right
one to decorate for Christmas—well, that’s an art. And it was the only thing
Angela’s daughter wanted for her ninth birthday—to go to Mark Shafer’s farm and
find the perfect tree for Christmas. And why wouldn’t she? As Mark’s
grandfather Papa Shafer had told them last year, they were miracle trees.”

“Though Angela Donovan is out of work and needs money
for rent, she yearns for her eight-year-old daughter to have a carefree holiday.
The last thing she wants is the pressure of her daughter expecting a miracle.
But when they pick out a Christmas tree at a cozy Massachusetts tree farm
that’s exactly what happens when they learn the trees might be miracle trees.
Mark Shafer is soon to be the new keeper of the Christmas
trees when he inherits the family farm. He’d like to run it with a family of
his own, but his girlfriend wants nothing to do with farm life. He makes plans
to sell so he can propose to his girlfriend and pursue a career in music. Then
he meets an unforgettable customer and her daughter, and an anonymous gift
compels them to learn the truth about the trees.

With a buyer willing to pay top dollar for the land, Mark
has the fate of the trees in his hand. Will he be able to see what and who is
most important? And will Angela give the miracle of love a chance?”
Snippet:
From Chapter Eleven:

“Can we bring something for Christmas?”“Like what?”

“Can I bring your nativity set?” she asked as
she looked at it longingly.

Angela set the grocery bags down in front of the
door. She picked up the case and began putting the pieces into their corresponding
velvet compartments. Caroline helped. The place for the lamb remained empty.

“I’m sorry I lost the lamb,” Caroline said.

“It’s okay,” Angela insisted. “Don’t worry about
it.”

“Will we ever find it?”

“Maybe,” she said. Probably not.

“What did Florinda tell you about the wise men?”
Caroline asked.

Angela sighed. Her daughter’s energy seemed to
increase as Angela’s waned.

“The wise men? ‘Don’t give up your search for
Jesus,’ I think she said.”

“What does that mean?”

“The wise men travelled a great distance. It
must have been a long journey, but they didn’t stop until they found Jesus as a
child.” Angela almost closed the case, but Caroline reached for another piece.

“What about him? What did she say about Joseph?”

Too worn out to resist her daughter’s earnest
inquiry, Angela explained, “Florinda said, ‘when you find someone as loving and
as loyal as Joseph, keep him close to your heart.’”

Caroline reached for the figure and tilted her
head. “You haven’t found someone like that yet, have you?” she asked.

Angela took the figure back, put it in the case
and closed it. She spoke the obvious answer hanging in the air.

“No. I haven’t.”
